One of my intentions in this body of work is to try to embrace, in a way, the whole meaning of Nature, to see nature as a whole. To accomplish it I have used different monochrome and polychrome textures on the surface of the painting as well as on the different shapes of the figures represented in it, but without paying attention to the details and without making an exhaustive look of a specific situation. I didn’t try to find answers or explanations of life in nature. I just take Nature as a complete and perfect movement.
When approaching life itself one can find two different ways of seeing it: the inner life and the superficial life. The inner life which is the one who belongs to the deepest and to the strongest, represented here in black and white; and the superficial which belongs to the lightness represented by the colorful and joyful leaves. The paintings are always moving, all of them simultaneously, from the gray figures of the background to the polychromic of the leaves and flowers in green, blue and pink and, in the opposite way, from the colors to the grays. To me all of this, simultaneously, is Nature.
I have used for this painting different images, among them, “The big tree” and “The circled garden”. “The big tree” (past, present and future) represents the rooted and the strong culture, which is the source for continuity and long life (permanency); and the “circled garden” represents the individual and cultivated life one must have in its own private. When they mix together, leaves with flowers and figures, one side with the other, make such a movement that creates the beauty: Nature.
